​CAPMT Santa Clara Valley is excited to present our 3rd Annual Discovery Day to kick off the 2024-2025 year!

Our theme for this year is Harmony in Learning: Exploring Paths Together -- the most successful music study is when teachers, students, and parents work together in harmony to help students reach their potential!  

 

​We invite you to attend all day and participate in our exciting programs:​

• Guest Artist

  • ​Dr. James Brinkmann: Innovative Flutist

• Student Recitals (staff accompanists available for hire -- see below for details)

  • Festival Recital: open repertoire, intermediate & advanced (6 min time limit)

  • Creativity/Pops Recital: improvisation/arranging/composing/pop/jazz/musical/movie/anime (6 min time limit)

  • Emerging Performers Recital: informal recital for beginner students of all ages (4 min time limit)

  • Teacher and Collegiate Recital: teachers and college students (6 min time limit)

• Feature Recital - featuring winners of our CAPMT and MTNA Competitions

• Special Sessions​

  • Opening Session: CAPMT SCV Welcome & Program Overview, Teacher Performances

  • Creativity Hour with Grant Kondo: Performance, Masterclass, Jam Session all-in-one!

  • "Under the Lid" - special session presented by San Mateo Piano looking "under the lid" of a grand piano! with Bozkurt Erkmen

  • "The Creative Listener" - creative ways in which listeners make meaning of music and express it through different participatory activities with Guest Artist Dr. James Brinkmann

  • Harmony in Learning: Teacher-Student-Parent Open Session with Yvonne Reddy

Registration Fees

$85  Teachers & General Admission  (all sessions + lunch included)

$25  K-12 Students + Collegiate  (all sessions + lunch included)

$60  Recital Performers  (for ensembles, each performer must register)

(includes 3 free guests, all sessions included, lunch NOT included)

$10  Additional guests

$20  Optional Lunch Add-On (per person)

If needed, $50 Accompanist Fee (paid directly to staff pianist) includes one rehearsal.

Regular Deadline: August 22, 2024

Last Minute Registration -- Registration is still open!  But you will need to show your receipt at the door.

Registration Deadline for Recital Performers: August 4, 2024

NO late registration will be accepted for recitals.
